We Need YOUR Support to Prevent Overdose!

In November, the Monterey County Public Health Department made the grim announcement that deaths from opioids in 2019 are already more than three times the total for 2018 – with 29 deaths to date. As opioid overdose deaths triple, with one resulting in the death of a 16-year-old girl in Seaside, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and mental health experts are joining efforts to warn the community.

Counterfeit medications have entered the market, many with a toxic or lethal dose of fentanyl, causing an increase in opioid-related overdoses and deaths. Fentanyl is a very powerful opioid, 50x to 100x more potent than morphine, and it is most often an unknown ingredient to the consuming person.

OVERDOSE PREVENTION:

Valley Health Associates works to inform the public of the increased dangers of street drugs, especially those cut with fentanyl which is highly potent and deadly. We assist in alerting the community and educating residents with specific actions they can take to save lives.

Valley Health Associates provide instruction to identify an overdose and to administer a nasal spray, called Naloxone, which reverses the effects of an overdose. As a recent example, during the Town Hall held at Oldemeyer Center in Seaside on November 18 with the PrescribeSafe coalition, Valley Health Associates distributed one hundred and five doses of Naloxone to concerned residents who have loved ones with Opioid Use Disorder.

Valley Health Associates is a non-profit organization.

Our 501(c)3 Tax ID is #77-0297577.

What's more, we are actively providing resources for recovery from Opioid Use Disorder including operating comprehensive outpatient programs for Adults and for Youth.

To continue this life-saving work,

we need YOUR support!
